A great park for birding pictures. There is a walking trail around the lake with an option for the sight-impaired called the Braille Trail. They claim it has "all eight swan species," but I only counted about four different species during my visit. In term of flowering stuff, you'll find azaleas, camellias, daylilies, Japanese irises, and Japanese magnolias. Festivals and events occur frequently so be sure to check their website for a calendar of events. It is a little gem in Sumter.

We loved our visit here! Beautiful scenery and peaceful trails. Even my kids had a blast! There are multiple gardens to walk through but our favorite was the Chocolate Garden. They have flowers that smell amazing in it including one that smells like chocolate! There is also a playground and a little market on the grounds next to the visitor's center. Definitely going back again.

Amazing. It's hard to believe this place exists. Very relaxing. 8 species of Swans. We had so much fun. The talking tree path is also well done. Definitely a 5* attraction in Sumter. Also the market has $1 ice cream!

Beautiful gardens. Easy walking with lots of benches to sit and enjoy watching the swans. Would highly recommend if you are traveling/vacationing in the area.

Awesome place to go with you significant other or your family. LOTS of swans and nice flowers. Nice playground and lots of places to stop and rest or picnic at. We spent a couple hours there with three kids under 10 and we could've stayed all day and they would've not gotten bored.

The lake and the gardens were very nice!! Saw most of the Swan species and some of the cygnets. The camelias were fully out, but not too much else. Very nice walking trails, picnic tables, kids play area make this a nice family day!!

A beautiful place for quiet time or time with the kiddos, young or old. Well kept gardens that have been popular since I was a kid myself. Fabulous place for photography of any kind. Enjoy the wildlife and nature. This place will NOT disappoint! I’m proud to call this place my home

The gardens were nice and clean. Everything was just starting to bloom, but there was still a lot of annuals that were still dead for winter. It’s probably a beautiful place later in Spring.

My wife and I visited the Christmas lights drive through experience. It was comparable to the experience in Little River (Myrtle Beach.) Unlike Myrtle Beach there was no synchronized music to listen to on your radio, No Santa Claus, Hot chocolate etc for the kiddies. Also, Unlike Myrtle Beach, they are OPEN this year, no sponsor signs everywhere, and had a nice patriotic display for our Air Force people. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and hope to drive through again this year. If you have kids, grandchildren, bring them, it is truly magical Thanks Swan Lake folks responsible for this magnificent Christmas display.

"A small piece of serenity " God's beautiful creations! I can take my God son to the playground, have a picnic, feed the swans and enjoy a walk around on the trails, while learning about the different types of flowers and there's a visitors center and shop.

Truly a hidden gem. Just missed the iris festival, but the gardens were in full bloom. So tranquil and so beautiful. If you’re in the area, this is worth the time. Your soul will thank you.

Just a lovely place to spend a few hours or so on a leisurely walk around the lake. This garden is noted for it's rehabilitation of injured swans. They do a great job! There are many different types and colors of swans - little did I know. It's a beautiful tree lined setting with many benches to sit, relax, and enjoy the swans and other fowl. There were a lot of families - great way for the kids to get out and get some exercise during this era of COVID. There is no fee.

Looking for something to do with your family? This is it! We spent two hours in the Swan Lake Iris Gardens. It wasn’t packed, it was free, and simply beautiful. My youngest enjoyed the walking tree paths as they were very educational. Great place for photography, picnics, and family bonding.

It's beautiful. My granddaughter and I love it. When I was looking for a historic home this is what sold me. I moved here. Educational swans geese ducks turtles and many different varieties of flowers trees shrubs and of course walking trails. Playground and picnic areas thoughout. Visit and you'll agree.

This place is GORGEOUS! It’s very clean (besides regular waterfowl mess), very open, and stroller friendly! Around the main lake it’s about a 1 miles loop and then you can walk across the bridge to the other side of the road where you’ll find a more swamp like area. Both sides of the road are equally amazing. The swan, geese, wild birds, ducks and turtles are beautiful and so peaceful to watch. I’ve been once a week for the past few weeks and have loved it each time. It’s such a wonderful place to go! & it’s FREE! I’ve felt very safe on the grounds every time I’ve been as well. I highly recommend. They even have a nice park area for kids to play. There is an office/visitor center and a kitchen/cafe building too!

It was cool and crisp. Good weather for a walk around the lake and seeing the swans and ducks. It was beautiful.

My family and our friends had a picknip here a couple weeks ago. Then we took a scroll around the lake. Nice place for all occasions.

Very beautiful place! Had a nice picnic in a nice shaded area. The beauty of the entire place is breathtaking

The most interesting sight to see in Sumter, this long standing lake/garden has been a family staple for decades. Especially during these times when we're all stuck inside this is a great location to get out into some nature and get some exercise. Highly recommend.

Small, but very well kept & maintained park. Walking path is easy to navigate, almost a mile long. Peaceful & serene. Great spot for photos.

Swan lake is always and always pleasant. The recent renovations add to the serene atmosphere. A must visit if you're in the area.

Since it wasn't crowded.... It was quite nice! Only did half the park cuz the storm is rolling in but it was still very nice!

Social distancing was great! Nice to get outside. However, be aware that the bathrooms here are closed to the public.

Such a gorgeous park! I visited here just a few days ago for the first time, and I was very impressed! The pond has a beautiful trail all the way round it- perfect for a peaceful sunset walk. The swans are also beautiful- even if they hiss at you while walking by haha.

So many varieties of swans and iris. This is a walking park with so much to see and learn. You can listen to the stops along the way that share interesting information regarding the trees. There are plaques throughout and attendants available also to ask questions. They have a rehab portion of the park for injured or nesting pairs. Excellent place to visit.

This park is gorgeous and had a beautifully landscaped walking path around the lake with flower gardens, a butterfly garden, fountains, picnic area - and lots and lots of swans.

The swans are amazing, huge birds. Thet make the geese look little, and the ducks look tiny.

Growing up in Sumter, Swan Lake was THE place to go for birthdays, family picnics, Easter egg hunts, tennis practice, romantic photos, festivals, and where we brought out-of-town guests. I have lived away for years, but we still try to get the next generations together to experience the ever-improving gardens, every chance we get. The statuary and sculptures, the specialty garden sections, the "talking trees," the many pavilions, restrooms, water fountains, and other facilities, in addition to the updated playground, walkways, elevated crosswalk, and exquisite natural beauty of the flora and fauna throughout the 4 seasons, make Swan Lake one of my favorite places anywhere! We spoke at length with the personable park ranger/horticulturist staff members during our most recent visit, which added even more to our experience!

Always have a pleasant time here. I enjoy visiting during the iris festival. The scenic views are gorgeous. The wildlife is beautiful. Good for quiet time alone, exercise, or bring the kids and have a picnic. They have a restaurant on site but I've never gone in. They have vending machines as well as a few bathrooms scattered throughout with drinking fountains. There's a visitor center type building but I've not gone in there either.

It was a bit chilly the day we went but it was an awesome trip! We seen a baby black swan with its parents the baby climbed up under one of its parents wings to snuggle and stay warm. There were so many swans and ducks to see that day. It was also great to get out and walk and get some exercise!

Great for casual walks, no pets please. Gardens in spring are absolutely beautiful! Heat and humidity in the summer is a thing. Lots of swans, ducks and turtles. Holidays decor has a lot of lights. One of the true natural beauty s in the county.

This is a swell place to take your family, hold an event, or just go for a stroll. It is fairly well maintained and very clean except for the swan fecal matter. There is plenty of parking and it feels very safe. The gardens are labeled and lovely. There is also a playground for children.

This is a very nice park. Love the path around the lake. Very peaceful. Good for kids and adults of all ages. They were setting up Christmas lights while we were there for the holidays. So many to see and they were very cute.
