Always a great way to experience Charleston. The vendors are so talented! I love seeing all of the handmade artwork they have on display. I always seem to find something I can't live without. It's a must do during a visit to Charleston.

The city market was a cool experience. Not only were the people nice, but I really enjoyed looking at all the different things being sold. It had one of the biggest assortment of items I've seen. One of my favorite stands there was a hot sauce stand. It had all sorts of hot sauces. There were some funny ones in there along with some very tasty ones. I visit every time I go to Charleston.

City Market was recommended by everyone for my vacation; however, I’m afraid covid struck and it was a complete let down. There were maybe a handful of vendors and the products were the usual touristy stuff (at least we got a T-shirt and a magnet). Maybe the next time we visit it’ll be better!

  • Sep 26, 2020 by Chris M.

The Market is always one of the places you must walk through when coming to Charleston. Due to Covid it appears many vendors are either out of business or not setting up. I don't hold that against the Market. Support local businesses.

  • Sep 19, 2020 by frank hayne

Do much to see but not enough time. Planning second visit.

  • Sep 16, 2020 by Deborah Hale

It was very hot the day we went. With the Covid restrictions in place it is hard to really get around and see everything.

  • Sep 16, 2020 by Kathy Talley

I love Charleston. This is my second visit

  • Sep 16, 2020 by Keisha Lykes

It was great, it's just with covid we had to walk on the outside

  • Sep 13, 2020 by Jill Thearp

Wish more had been open. Hope all the vendors are surviving.

  • Sep 13, 2020 by The Equipment Buff

What can I say about the Charleston Market? Its great and has been for years. The pandemic rules kind of suck but I guess you just got to roll with the punches right?

  • Sep 12, 2020 by Marianne Curtis

Lots to see, too bad so much was closed, but still had a great visit.

  • Sep 11, 2020 by Elizabeth Hedges

It's a nice market, the COVID restrictions have all the open air parts as a shop from the streets version which is unfortunate given the afternoon heat, we were only interested in walking down one side of the market as a result.

After a big metropolitan city, Charleston is a wonderful place to get some peace and relaxation.

  • Sep 08, 2020 by Terrance Smalls

Its ok.not the same since the virus

  • Sep 06, 2020 by Patrick Stokes

A must visit if your in the Charleston area.

  • Sep 04, 2020 by Silvius Sirbu

It's ok. Once you go through once you've seen all you need.

  • Sep 02, 2020 by Christopher Doerner

It was magnificent as usual although much fewer vendors these Rona days

  • Aug 31, 2020 by Julio Ruiz

Much scaled down due to Covid but fun nonetheless.

  • Aug 31, 2020 by Don Klienback

What an awesome experience of the historic downtown and the city is quite and clean. I strongly suggest the Polo Horse carriage tour.

  • Aug 28, 2020 by Maria Reakes

    A little empty since Covid

  • Aug 23, 2020 by Curtis Hancock

Great place to visit and must I would say if you are in the area for shopping. Great gift and souvenir choices to choose from. Local candy shops are a must if you're looking for a true experience and recommend any praline they have to offer. Also, try the wafer cookies that are just simply the best pairing for coffee. Plenty to see and keep you entertained for am afternoon or morning

  • Aug 20, 2020 by Chad Gregg

Nice place for non-ordinary shopping stores. Have some unique items and shops.

  • Aug 17, 2020 by Mike Martin

Opened for shopping! Enjoyed the experience. Bought tea from Tea and Spice Shop, buffalo sauce and coffee rub from Pepper palace, candy from Its Sugar, and praline covered pecans and cashews from a local. Easy parking, great walk, beautiful downtown. Loved it.

  • Aug 16, 2020 by Tay Jacobe

Fun market to walk through! A lot of repetitive goods, but plenty of options. Although signs are abundant, people don’t seem to be respecting or enforcing mask/social-distancing policies.

  • Aug 15, 2020 by Brad Orme

A little smaller with Covid but still great vendors. Go find Stan the Peanut man and try the BBQ and garlic fried peanuts. Trust me

  • Aug 10, 2020 by Stewart Armstrong

The Historic Charleston City Market is always fun. It is good to see that it is still open during these times. Instead of walking through the middle in crowds of people, you actually shop from the outside windows. Unfortunately, there were far less vendors than normal.

  • Aug 09, 2020 by Jazz Click

Great assortment of vendor booths filled with various art that reminds one of the historic value of this market. Open air market limits the spread of covid

  • Aug 07, 2020 by ken logsdon jr.

Charleston hot. Still too many shops closed due to covid. The ones open are quaint and worth it.

  • Jul 31, 2020 by Nizamuddin Gardimani

I have been here 3 months before and i had enjoyed every corner of the market...
It is a big market which continues on one road after the other...There are lot of stalls with different varieties of goods for sale.. special hand craft items..It is usually crowded and for me it's one the best place for shopping..❣️

  • Jul 23, 2020 by Angee Cox

The building is amazing! You can feel the atmosphere of human suffering from the past. There is so many unique shops and vendor's here it's a good place to buy keepsakes and gifts.

  • Jul 22, 2020 by Billy Duncan

Open air market place every one encouraged to wear mask. Lots of crafts for women and not so much men stuff.

  • Jul 20, 2020 by Tara L

The market was nice to walk through and see all the local artists. But I guess I expected more variety from art to food. I ended up getting a sweet grass rose. It in a perfect fit in my office.

  • Jul 17, 2020 by Darlene Parker

Amazing visit as always. Hate there weren't more shops open. Oh well. Praying everyone stay safe. And I will see you next visit

  • Jul 15, 2020 by Mike Walker

Some stalls with local stuff. But mostly generic flea market goods with high prices and folks complaining about wearing face masks in doors.

Seems like it could be cool, but lacking greatly on the day we went.

  • Jul 07, 2020 by Bianca Cooper

Nice! Must see! A touch of history! Couldn't experience 100% because of the pandemic the market wasn't fully open.

  • Jul 05, 2020 by Lisa Vatter

A wonderful experience for families. Many other wonderful places to see and visit within walking distance.

  • Jul 04, 2020 by Mia Waymer Davoll

Even though Covid has changed everyone's life, the market was still warm and inviting.

  • Jun 28, 2020 by Julie Schuyler

While is was extremely hot, had fun walking around and seeing all the excitement. Got to eat some local cuisine. Looking forward bro my next visit. So much to see not enough time.

  • Jun 27, 2020 by Trisha Eddleman

Love this Historic Open Air Market. Covid has forced a few changes but still ad great as ever!

  • Jun 27, 2020 by C Cro

The market was just opening back up from the COVID-19. They had mask if you didn't have one so you could enter the inside shops also offering hand sanitizer. They were counting how many customers entering. Always a pleasure of visiting the market. It's a must when you visit Charleston to support the local businesses.

  • Jun 25, 2020 by Clara Johnson

I feel so prayerful for those who small businesses here during this pandemic. I certainly pray you are able to open before you are forced out of business in full.

  • Jun 21, 2020 by Steve Harry

The market is always pretty. But due to the virus restrictions on place by the city. Limited vendors and shopping experiences. I'm sure as things get better it will pick back up again.

  • May 29, 2020 by Matthew Strand

Definitely a touristy thing. But they have amazing biscuits at Callie's and I like the Christmas store and the store with all the interesting foodstuffs. Avoid it if there is a cruise ship in port. It gets way overcrowded.

  • May 24, 2020 by Joann Rossi

I just love the Charleston City Market it was an adventure and a step back into history. If you're going to Charleston make sure you go to the market. Lillie's old style lollies sold lollies that were out of this world great.

Each time I come to Charleston I always can't seem to not enjoy at least a half a day in this great shopping area. Lots of selection great memories I even have mementos that I bought both years ago and he recently. This is truly something I personally love and have loved many times if you come to Charleston and you have yet to enjoy this you're missing out. Please just find a parking spot and planned at least a half a day here you won't regret it....
Great representation of local artists and jewelry and Craftsman of all kinds I literally can't go through here without making purchases but all of them are lifelong and memorable

  • Mar 23, 2020 by Gary Kibble

A great shopping and site seeing spot in the middle of Charleston. Shop the main stores by day and also enjoy the Night Market with local artisans and music. Great place to find a sweet water basket.

  • Mar 22, 2020 by Samuel Kent

Always a fantastic place to walk around. Snack dab downtown and within walking distance of great eateries. This market has Charlestonian items. From traditional sweet grass baskets, to homemade leather goods, to jewelry, to coffee, to t-shirts. This market has it all. It is one of the best places to bring out if town guests. It is one of the best places to find Christmas and Birthday gifts. It is always am enjoyable place to visit and see local goods.

  • Mar 17, 2020 by Meme Humbug

You can experience many of Charleston's artists and entrepreneurs walking through the city market. Enjoy the sights, smells tastes and sounds of a unique place built in history. Take home a memory of your visit when you buy that hot sauce, a t-shirt or the straw basket. We keep coming back to our favorite place in the city.

  • Mar 14, 2020 by Cindy Terpstra

If you like shopping, this is a great and unique venue for it. Although it is covered, most of it is open air so be prepared on a hot day. We were there in March and it was very pleasant

  • Feb 27, 2020 by Krista Dezsi

Great variety of vendors. Food stands were very southern and wonderful to try! We loved the Kepla Blocks store as a great place to cool off with the kids. They have a huge building area kids can just sit and experiment with their blocks. Plan for several hours as the streets around the historic market have lots of great stores, ice cream shops and restaurants. Fun for the whole family.

  • Feb 25, 2020 by Ashley McCuistion

This is a great historic market! There are lots of different vendors lined up inside selling everything from food to artwork to souvenirs and more! I love the soaps and lotions at the Old Whaling Co. The building is a few blocks long, so there is something for everybody. Definitely stop by if you're looking for a cool place to shop for local goods!

  • Feb 02, 2020 by Ron Padgett

There is literally something for everyone. Very unique items. Many are made by local artisans and are one of a kind. Food and beverages are readily available. The market is open year round. Very family friendly.

  • Dec 31, 2019 by Glenn Bean

What a great place! Lots of different things with lots of different people! Expect to spend some time wandering through the several buildings. The area also has a wonderful selection of restaurants. We had some of the best jambalaya at Florence's Low Country Restaurant. We will be back soon!

  • Dec 29, 2019 by Rachael Michels

Wow! What an awesome and expansive market. Worth the trip! Took us almost an hour to saunter from end-to-end. There was def. something for everyone and minimal repetition between stalls.
